Apple’s latest flagship, the iPhone 17 Pro, has made a dazzling debut in Taiwan—especially in its bold new colors. According to Chunghwa Telecom, one of the country’s leading mobile carriers, the Cosmic Orange and Deep Blue variants have emerged as top picks among early adopters, signaling a shift in consumer taste toward more expressive tech aesthetics.

Strong Demand for the Flagship Pro Series
When the iPhone 17 lineup officially went on sale in Taiwan on Friday, 43% of Chunghwa Telecom customers chose the iPhone 17 Pro, making it the most popular model in the series. The larger iPhone 17 Pro Max followed with 28%, while the entry-level iPhone 17 attracted 23% of buyers. The ultra-thin iPhone Air, measuring just 5.6 mm, accounted for the remaining 6% of purchases.
Both the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max are available in three colors—Silver, Cosmic Orange, and Deep Blue—with the latter two dominating customer preference. The Pro models start at NT$39,900 (US$1,320) and NT$44,900, respectively, and offer a premium blend of performance and design.
Color Trends Across the Lineup
Color clearly played a major role in this year’s launch. For the iPhone Air, which starts at NT$36,900, customers gravitated toward the Sky Blue option over Space Black, Cloud White, and Light Gold. Meanwhile, the standard iPhone 17, priced at NT$29,900, saw the Sage Green variant outperform Lavender, Mist Blue, White, and Black.
This growing interest in vibrant and earthy tones suggests that Apple’s color strategy—especially the introduction of Cosmic Orange—has struck a chord with consumers looking for more personality in their devices.

Preorders and Market Momentum
Preorders for the iPhone 17 series began on September 10, following Apple’s global unveiling. By the time the devices hit shelves on September 20, demand was already surging.
Far EasTone Telecommunications, another major carrier in Taiwan, reported strong interest in the new models, particularly the iPhone Air. Customers were impressed by its ultra-light design—just 165 grams, making it 34% lighter than the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
Over 80% of Far EasTone customers opted for monthly plans priced at NT$1,399 and NT$1,599, with the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max leading the pack.
Retail Sellouts and Online Surges
Beyond telecom providers, major electronics retailers and online platforms also saw rapid sellouts. Tsann Kuen Enterprise Co. reported that the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max were completely sold out across its 104 Apple shops within just 30 minutes of launch.
Online platforms mirrored this momentum. PChome noted a 15% increase in first-day buyers compared to last year’s iPhone launch. Meanwhile, momo revealed that the Silver 256GB iPhone Pro Max sold out within minutes.
A Colorful Start for Apple’s 2025 Lineup
The iPhone 17 series has clearly resonated with Taiwanese consumers, not just for its specs and design, but for its bold color choices. Cosmic Orange and Deep Blue have emerged as breakout stars, proving that in 2025, tech is as much about personal expression as it is about performance.
With strong early sales, widespread retail adoption, and enthusiastic customer feedback, Apple’s latest launch is off to a vibrant start—one that may set the tone for global trends in the months ahead.
